Los Angeles-based RBC, founded by partners Brian Shafton and Ben Grossi, specializes in digital marketing and distribution, as well as product management, sales, and creative services consulting to artists and management. In acquiring RBC, BMG moves artists like Chief Keef, Waka Flocka Flame, and more than 500 label releases under their banner.

Grossi will not be involved with RBC moving forward, but RBC’s existing team will stay in their positions and report to Shafton. Shafton will, in turn, report to Tom ‘Grover’ Biery, BMG’s EVP, Recorded Music.

The purchase, BMG’s first since acquiring Nashville’s BBR Music Group in February 2017, strengthens BMG’s position in the hip-hop market. Notable recent hip-hop successes from BMG include those of Big K.R.I.T., Scarface, and Commission Music artists like Lil Dicky. Chief Keef and Flippa are slated to be the first releases under the new deal.
